International Short Course and Conference on Applied Coastal Research

The Environmental Hydraulics Institute – IHCantabria - of University of Cantabria, the University of Salento, the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR) and the Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI) organized the International Short Course and Conference on Applied Coastal Research 2017 (SCACR2017). This event took place in the School of Nautical Studies of Universidad de Cantabria.

The conference covered the following topics:

  • Coastal Waves, Processes and Structures
  • Ports, Harbours and Waterways
  • Sea Energy & Resources
  • Dredging at maritime áreas
  • Numerical, Laboratory and Field Methods
  • Coastal Environment, Coastal Risk and Coastal Development
  • Climate change impact and adaptation

On the 4th of October Antea Group presented the paper "Bed morphology simulation during storm events at a nourished coastal area in Belgium", by Antea Group and Flanders Hydraulics Research. Topics covered during this day were: coastal waves, processes and structures and coastal environment, coastal risk and development. The audience was a mix of researchers from diverse international universities and local keynote speakers, presenting some of the research and innovation challenges in marine and harbour infra-structures.
